Aedes Larvae dense at 98 DSCC-DNCC wards: report

DHAKA, July 31, 2019 (BSS) – The ‘Seasonal Aedes Survey’ was held in 100 areas under the 98 wards of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) from July 17 to 27.

The density of Aedes Larvae was to be higher at 24 among the 40 DSCC wards and 38 among 58 DNCC wards, said a press release issued by the ‘Communicable Disease Control’ (CDC) unit of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

The release also said that the clean water in containers such as old tires, bottles, pots, broken appliances, plastic containers etc. are the breeding grounds of the Aedes mosquitoes resulting density of larvae. This year, 17,183 people were admitted to government and private hospitals so far with dengue, said the report.

While another report issued by ‘Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room’ of the DGHS said that 1,477 dengue patients were admitted to the hospitals in last 24 hours.

The report also said that 2,654 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital so far outside of the capital city.

Besides 362 people in Dhaka district, 106 people in Chattogram, 108 in Khulna, 31 in Rangpur, 61 in Rajshahi, 22 in Barishal, 29 in Sylhet and 80 people in Mymensingh were admitted to the hospitals with dengue.

The DGHS called for raising mass awareness to stop spreading of dengue.
