Hello seeks child journalists

DHAKA, July 31, 2019 (BSS) – United Nations International Children’s
Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and bdnews24.com are looking for child journalists
under a joint venture news service named Hello.

The announcement was made today at a press conference held at Dhaka
Reporters Unity (DRU) at Segunbagicha here.

Executive Editor of Hello, Mujtoba Hakim Plato read out the written
speech, in presence of UNICEF Communication Specialist Faria Selim and
bdnews24.com diplomatic correspondent Nurul Islam Hasib, among others.

“As you know the service Hello, is being run by children since 2013 and
more than seven thousand children from all across the country have joined the
service one way or another. But when a journalist here grows more than 18-
years’ old, he can no longer remain in service, compelling us to look for
fresh faces, every year,” Plato said.

The initiative plans to arrange a basic training program for children on
journalism in 33 districts including Dhaka. Besides they will celebrate a
national program on child journalism for the first time and select children
for awards, nationally.

The Hello organizer urged all to participate in their activities. By
clicking http://reg.hello.bdnews24.com any child can apply for this program.
Besides, children can download application forms from the bdnews24.com or
Hello website.

The new site, hello.bdnews24.com, will reflect its expertise in working
with children, commitment to journalism and the general interest it has in
promoting child rights.

The site has been tailored to provide a suitable platform for children of
all social strata to gather and deliver news that they care about.
