DHAKA, July 29, 2019 (BSS) – Railway Minister M Nurul Islam Sujon today said the railway ministry was working hard to maintain schedule of the trains so that homebound passengers could reach their respective destinations ahead of Holy Eid-ul Azha.

“The Railway Ministry was working with maximum effort to maintain the schedule in train movement …but it was difficult to maintain 100 per cent schedule before opening the double line in the railways,” said the minister while visiting Kamalapur railway station to observe, personally, the ticket selling activity of the railways.

During Eid, trains are usually delayed as the number of incoming and outgoing passengers is unusually high, the minister said.

Talking to journalists, the railway minister said railway tickets were being sold at the counter from 9am and through mobile apps from 6am. The railway tickets would be sold from five different city stations for passengers who will travel on five different routes.

Concerned officials including Railway secretary M Mofazzal Hossain, Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Railway M Shamsuzzaman and Additional DG (operation) M Mia Jahan, among others, were present during the visit.
