RANGPUR, May 9, 2018 (BSS)- Academicians at a memorial discussion here today said noted nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr MA Wazed Miah will remain as a model source of inspiration for the new generation.
“Dr Wazed was a very simple, greed-less and completely honest person with glorious human virtues,” said Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah.
He said this while presiding over the discussion organised by Dr Wazed Research and Training Institute (DWRTI) of BRUR on the campus in observance of Dr Wazed’s ninth death anniversary.
Prof Kalimullah, also director of DWRTI, said, “The nation will always remember the contribution of Dr Wazed.”
President Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association (BRUTA) Prof Dr Gazi Mazharul Anwar and its General Secretary Assistant Prof Tabiur Rahman addressed the discussion moderated by Research Officer of DWRTI Mehzabeen Elahi.
Prof Anwar termed Dr Wazed as a rare talent with full dedication, affection and patriotism and said he (Wazed) paved the way for flourishing science and technology-based modern education and research activities in the country.
He urged the young generation to follow the ideals, patriotic zeal and honesty of Dr Wazed in building an economically and technologically developed Bangladesh.
Earlier, the VC along with teachers and official of the university placed wreath on the grave of Dr Wazed in Laldighee Fatehpur village under Pirganj upazila this morning.
Leaders of BRUTA and BRUR units of Pragotisheel Shikhkhok Samaj, Bangabandhu Parishad, Officers’ Association, Employees Union and other organisations placed wreaths there.
The VC also offered Fateha and special munajat there seeking eternal peace for Dr Wazed and well being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and other family members.
