BDRCS’s role in serving distressed humanity lauded

RANGPUR, May 09, 2018 (BSS) – The volunteers of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) are playing laudable role in serving distressed humanity through conducting rescue and relief operations whenever and wherever it is needed.

The view was expressed at a post-rally discussion organised by Rangpur unit of BDRCS in celebration of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day- 2018 on Tuesday afternoon at Zila Parisahd auditorium on the 190th birth anniversary of Jean Henry Dunant.

Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib inaugurated the celebration through hoisting of the national flag and releasing pigeon before leading a colorful rally in observance of the day.

Government officials, executive committee members and volunteers of Rangpur Unit of BDRCS, teachers, students, civil society members, socio- cultural and professional activists and elite of the city took part in the rally.

The deputy commissioner attended the post-rally discussion as the chief guest with President of Rangpur Unit of BDRCS and Zila Parisahd Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom in the chair.

Moderated by Rangpur unit Secretary of BDRCS Rawshanul Kaiser Sangram, Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr Nur Islam and Chairman of Prime Sonic Group Professor Dr Akkas Ali Sarker addressed the discussion.

The speakers highlighted importance of the day and called upon all concerned to be imbued with the ideals of founder of the volunteer organisation Jean Henry Dunant to serve the distressed and suffering humanity.

They put emphasis on adopting early preparedness and providing training on rescue and relief operations to the volunteers, youths, students and teachers all over the country to reduce losses of lives and properties during natural disasters.
