RANGPUR, May 09, 2018 (BSS) – The ninth death anniversary of renowned nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr M A Wazed Miah is being observed here in befitting manner today.
The Rangpur district and Pirganj upazila administrations, Dr Wazed Smriti Sangsad (DWSS), Dr Wazed Foundation, Awami League (AL) and family of Dr Wazed and other organisations are observing the death anniversary through various programmes.
The programmes include placing of wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed in village Laldighee Fatehpur under Pirganj upazila, offering Fateha, Milad mahfil, ‘Ziayarat’, distribution of foods to the poor and memorial discussions.
Govern officials, local public representatives and leaders of different organisations placed wreaths at the grave of the renowned nuclear scientist and offered Fateha, ‘Ziayarat’ and special munajats there this morning.
Leaders and representatives of Pirganj upazila AL, Dr Wazed Foundation, Begum Rokeya University and family members of Dr Wazed placed wreaths at his grave in the morning as part of daylong programmes to observe the death anniversary.
The district administration organised a memorial discussion on the life and works of Dr Wazed at conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in the city in the morning.
Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib attended the discussion as the chief guest with Dedicational Deputy Commissioner (General) Rabiul Islam in the chair.
Officials of the district administration, political leaders, civil society members, socio-cultural activists and professionals took part in the discussion.
Led by Vice-president of DWSS AKM Mozammel Haque and its General Secretary Saiful Islam Jahangir, leaders of the organisation placed wreaths at the rave of Dr Wazed in village Laldighee Fatehpur, offered Fateha and ‘Ziayarat’ there this morning.
The organisation will organise doa mahfils at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque and Court Jam-e-Mosque in the city after Asr payers and officer special prayers there seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Dr Wazed and well-being of his family members.
The organisation will also stage a memorial discussion on Wazed at Press Club Bhaban in the evening.
The district and city units of AL will arrange milad mahfils and memorial discussions on the life and works of Dr Wazed at district AL office in the city with the party’s acting district unit president Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed in the chair.
