Young Tigers suffer 35-run defeat to India

DHAKA, July 25, 2019 (BSS)-Bangladesh Under-19 team suffered a 35-run
defeat to India in the Under-19 Tri-nation Tournament in England at the
Worcestershire on Wednesday.

Captain Priyam Grag struck an unbeaten 97 ball-100 as India Under-19 piled
up a total of 264-5 before their bowlers’ bundled Bangladeshi youths out for
229 in 47.1 overs.

Bangladesh were five down for 79 in pursuit of the target that decided the
fate of the match. But skipper Akbar Ali and Shamim Hossain resisted by
sharing 99 runs for the sixth wicket-stand.

Akbar Ali was the highest scorer for Bangladesh with 56 runs while Shamim
made 46. Opener Tanzid Hasan was the other notable scorer with 44 runs.

Pace bowler Kartik Tyagi who sliced Bangladesh’s top order returned
figures of 4-16 while left-arm spinner Shubhang Hegde claimed 3-59. Opener
Yashasvi gave the Indian side a perfect start after they opted to bat first.
He made 63 after which captain Grag took the side in a position of dominance.

For Bangladesh U19, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury snapped up 2-45.

Bangladesh earlier in their first match beat hosts England by six wickets.
