DHAKA, May 06, 2018 (BSS)- Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder today said the returning officer of Gazipur City Corporation polls has been asked to hold all activities regarding the election slated for May 15.
“We saw a news item on television that the High Court stayed the Gazipur City polls…We already gave a directive to the returning officer to hold all types of activities in this regard,” he told the journalists after a meeting of the Election Commission (EC) at Nirbachon Bhaban at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city.
He said “It is a matter of the court. We can comment on the issue after knowing the matter thoroughly,” he added.
“As it has been stayed by the High Court, we are bound to comply with the order,” he said.
