Over 100 families to get disaster tolerant homes in Bhola

BHOLA, July 22, 2019 (BSS) -At the initiative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina more then one hundred poor families of Bhola district are getting home on their own land.

The government is constructing disaster tolerant home for 101 families of the district who have their own lands, officials said.

The homes are being constructed under the supervision of the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry at cost of Taka 2.58 lakh each.

Construction of the two-room homes on 300 square feet land will be completed within one month, officials said adding that tin-shed home with concrete wall will have a veranda in front, lobby, bathroom, toilet and kitchen in the rear side.

District relief and rehabilitation officer ABM Akram Hossain told BSS that many people have their own land, but have no ability to construct home.

Considering their financial barriers Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has envisaged the project for construction of home for poor to fulfill her pledge- ‘none will remain homeless’.

The homes would have capacity to sustain in any strong disaster and even in wind of 220 km speed.

Out of those homes, 23 are being constructed in Sadar Upazila, 13 in Borhanuddin Upazila, 14 in Dhulatkhan, 12 in Lalmohan, 10 in Tazimuddin, 14 in Charfashion and 15 are being constructed in Monpura.

Local parliament member Tofayel Ahmed thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for undertaking the housing project for poor in his constituency.
