Habigonj civil surgeon dies of dengue fever

HABIGONJ, July 22, 2019 (BSS) – Civil Surgeon of Habigonj district Dr. Md. Shadat Hossain Hazra died of dengue fever at a hospital in Dhaka last night.

Medical Officer of Habigonj civil surgeon office Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman Uzzal today said, Dr Shahdat, who was undergoing treatment at Shahid Suharawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka, died last night.

Dr Shahdat was shifted to Suharawardy Hospital from Habigonj Adhunik Zila Sadar Hospital yesterday afternoon. Attending doctors declared him dead at about 10.15 PM, he said.

Administrative Officer of Habigonj Civil Surgeon Office Shah Alam said, Dr Shahdat joined as the Civil Surgeon of Habigonj on July 9 when he was suffering from dengue fever.

On Sunday morning he came to his office and joined the monthly coordination meeting at Deputy Commissioner’s conference room

Dr Shahdat left the meeting as he felt sick and was immediately admitted to Habigonj Adhunik Zila Sadar Hospital from where he was shifted to Dhaka.

Shah Alam said Dr Shahdat along with his medical team performed duty in the flood-hit areas of Nabigonj of the district on Saturday during the visit of State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Faruque.

Civil Surgeon’s sudden death descended a pall of gloom among the doctors and employees of the health department of Hobigonj.

Dr Shahdat, 53, hailed from Pirojpur district, left behind his wife, one son and one daughter.
