Tk 2239cr project taken to save Tangail from flood: Shameem

TANGAIL, July 20, 2019 (BSS) – Deputy Minister for Water Resources and Awami League Organizing Secretary AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem today said the government has taken a Taka 2239 crore project to save Tangail from floods.

“A project worth Taka 2239 crore has been taken to protect Tangail from river erosion and floods. The works of the project will begin this fiscal,” he said while visiting river erosion areas on Bhuapur-Tarakandi road and distributing relief goods among the flood victims of Bhuapur upazila in the district, said a press release.

The AL leader said the party leaders and workers would always stay beside the flood victims.

Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman said sufficient relief goods are being distributed among the flood victims.

He said 900 metric tons of rice, 6000 cartons of dry food, Taka 15 lakh cash and 500 tarpaulins (Tirpal) have been allocated for flood victims in the district.
