Tree fair begins in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, July 20, 2019 (BSS) – A 10-day tree fair has began here today aimed at emcouraging people to go for plantation to protect environemt and ecology.

District administration, Forest Department and Agriculture Extention Department jointly arranged the fair at Panchagarh auditorium premises.

Addressing the function as the chief guest Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon urged people for planting more trees for protecting environment.

“A tree is like a provident fund. It gives us oxygen, food, nutrition and energy. So, everybody should plant at least three tree evry year,” he said urging students to plant more fruit bearing trees and medicinal trees in their homestead.

Parliament Member from Panchagarh-1 constituency Mojaharul Huque Prodhan, Deputy Director of AED Abu Nasir, Divisional forest officer Abdur Rahman and Sadar Upazila chairman Amirul Islam spoke among others on the occasion with Deputy Commissioner Sabina Yeasmin in the chair.

A total of 50 stalls were set up in the fair.
