HABIGANJ, July 20, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Water resources Zahid Faruq today said the government is implementing projects for repairing of embankments on the rivers in Habiganj for protecting the people from flood.
“The embankments are being repaired so that riverbank areas in Habiganj district are not flooded,” he told journalists while visiting Khoai River in the district.
Shah Newas Milad Gazi, Additional Secretary of the Water Resource Ministry Mahmudul Islam, Director General of Water Development Board Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Islam and officials concerned, among others, were present on the occasion.
Zahid said, “Illegal infrastructures on the bank of the rivers will be evicted to revive normal flow of those rivers…. The government has taken various initiatives for minimizing loss of lives and property caused by flood.”
