431 flood victims get financial assistance in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, July 20, 2019 (BSS) – A total of 431 flood victims of Fazlupur
union of Fulchhari upazila in the district got financial assistance of cash
TK 19,39,500 from Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and Swiss Red Cross
(SRC) on Thursday afternoon.

The financial aid was disbursed to the flood victims of the char union of
the upazila under Disaster Reduction Management (DRM) project being
implemented by BDRCS and SRC here with the technical support of German Red
Cross (GRC)

The objective of the money distribution was to help them buy essential
materials so that they could pass their days without hardship during the
flood, said an official.

In case of money disbursement to the selected beneficiaries of the union,
the apps of Bangladesh Post Office, Gaibandha branch had been used and the
assistance taken from the union disaster management committee to make the
disbursement effective, he also said.

A simple function was arranged on the ground of South Khatiamari Ebtedayee
Madrasha of the union, where chairman of BDRCS, Gaibandha unit and also
chairman of Gaibandha Zila Parishad Ataur Rahman and unit secretary Rezaul
Karim Reza formally disbursed the money to the beneficiaries.

Each of them received TK 4,500 as grant from the organizations under focus
based financial activity of the project.

Manager of DRM-SRC Tuhin Samaddar, and representative of GRC Momtaz Uddin
were present on the occasion while project manager Golam Mostafa, resilience
coordinator Amol Kumar Pramanik, unit level officer Pavel Rahman, finance and
admin officer M. Khurshid Alam, project officer Saiful Islam and project
engineer Mominul Islam coordinated the activity.
