Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, May 5, 2018 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur with moderately heavy to heavy falls and hails at isolated places over the country in 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls and hails at isolated places over the country in the next 24 hours commencing from 9 am today,” said a met office release here.

Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country during the period, the release added.

According to the release, trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over South Bay.

The met office, in a warning message, also said in association with rain or thundershowers temporarily west or northwesterly gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one.

The maximum temperature was recorded 35.2 degrees celsius yesterday Khulna and today’s minimum temperature 20.4 degrees celsius at Rajarhat in Rangpur division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 61 mm at Chandpur in Chattogram division.

The sunsets at 6.29 pm today and rises at 5.21 am tomorrow in the capital city.
