CHATTOGRAM, July 17, 2019 (BSS)- Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said Bangladesh is safe as it is in the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He went on saying if this country goes to some other hands, it will become champion in corruption again.

“The incidents of killings in the country will surface again, deviating from the right track if it goes to someone else’s hands… It is safe in our PM’s hands,” he said.

Hasan, also the Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Secretary, said this while addressing a discussion meeting organized by Chattogram City Unit Awami League at a community center in the city on the occasion of ‘Gonotantra Bondi Dibosh’.

“To keep up the present development spree across the country, the dreams of today’s youths have to be materialized,” he added.

The information minister said the incumbent government does not want to remain in power without the support of the countrymen, adding: PM Sheikh Hasina always stands by her country’s people.

Democracy of the country was imprisoned on July 16 in 2007 as Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was arrested on that day.

“So, this day is being observed as the day of imprisonment of democracy,” he added.

Mentioning the ideological differences between Awami League and BNP, he said AL pursues politics for the development of the people and for the country.

On the contrary, he said, to BNP politics means getting ‘Halua and Ruti’.

When Ziaur Rahman came to power, he formed his party by distributing ‘Halua-Ruti’ to cling to power, he said.

Chittagong City AL Acting President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury chaired the meeting while AL Chattogram City Unit Publicity Secretary Shafiqul Islam Faruk conducted it.

Chattogram City Unit AL General Secretary as well as Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir, AL City Unit Vice-President Alhaj Noim Ahmed Chowdhury, Altaf Hossain Bachchu and Advocate Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
