President, PM greet members of BASA

DHAKA, July 17, 2019 (BSS)-President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today greeted all members of BCS (admin) cadre on the occasion of the Annual Conference-2019 of Bangladesh Administrative Service Association (BASA) to be held tomorrow.

In separate messages on the eve of the conference, the President and the Prime Minister hoped that the members of the BCS administrative cadre would play more constructive role being imbued with the spirit of patriotism and devotion for building a poverty-hunger free prosperous country as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

President M Abdul Hamid in his message said there is no alternative to an efficient, dynamic and accountable administration for creating bridge between the government and the people and socio-economic development of the country.

The administrative officials have important role to play in implementation of plans-policies of the government and providing services to the people, he added.

The President said every members of the administrative service should give public interest priority in discharging their duty. Members of BASA should be honest, efficient and promising in building a prosperous and happy Bangladesh by 2041.

“I hope that the members of the administrative cadre would discharge their duty being imbued with the spirit of Liberation War, patriotism … they would maintain honesty, sincerity and human value and remain committed to the government, country as well as the people for the development of the country,” said the President.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh said the members of BCS administrative cadre have been working tirelessly for the development of the country by reaching public services to the door-steps of the people. The members of this cadre had played important role directly and indirectly during the Liberation War and in rebuilding the newly independent country, she added.

The prime minister said the Awami League government has been implementing various programmes for building a modern, technology-oriented, skilled and pro-people public administration.

The present government has enhanced the capacity of the administration and their facilities, including salary-allowances, she said, adding that “Janoproshashan Padak” has been introduced to encourage the BCS administrative cadre members to work sincerely for the development of the country.

The prime minister said tremendous success has been achieved in every sector over the last one and a half decade and Bangladesh is now a role model in socio-economic development.

“We will turn Bangladesh into a middle income country before 2021 and a developed one by 2041,” said Sheikh Hasina and urged the members of the BCS administrative cadre to work sincerely and honestly for building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
