BHOLA, July 15, 2019 (BSS) – Monsoon rains inundated villages and char
areas of the district, leaving several thousands of people marooned.
Sources at local office of Water Development Board (WDB) said four villages
under Monpura upazila went under floodwater collapsing an embankment in
Masterhat area.
Moreover, incessant rains forced to shut down educational institutions in
Monpura upazila, they added.
Officials and local people said farmed fishes in ponds and water bodies in
different areas of the district were washed away due to floodwater.
Deputy Engineer of WDB Abul Kalam said, “Repairing works of the collapsed
embankments are going on… Officials of Water Development Board have
remained alert to deal with catastrophic situation caused by flood.”
