Bangladesh A concedes series after 2nd match ends in draw

DHAKA, July 15, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh A suffered a 1-0 loss in two-match four-day series against touring Afghanistan A after the second and last four-day game, thoroughly interrupted by rain, ended in a draw at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) on Monday.

Afghanistan A stunned the hosts by seven wickets in the first match. The visitors dominated the rain-interrupted the second match also, before they settled for a draw.

Only two and half session game was possible due to rain in a total of 12 possible sessions. Both of the teams played 121.3 overs out of possible 360 overs while the second day was entirely washed out.

On day one 7.4 overs game was possible before the rain halted the day as the hosts, who was being sent to bat first ended the day on 38-1.

Bangladesh A finally was bowled out for 200 in 77.3 overs after fourth day allowed some game.

However, the visitors held the edge even in a draw, by ending the day on 163-2 in just 44 overs.

Opener Ibrahim Zadran missed out the ton by four runs, being out on 96. Bahir Shah was unbeaten on 52.

For Bangladesh A, opener Naim Sheikh scored 65 while Raqibul Hasan made a laborious 61.

The two teams will now play a five-match one-day series, staring on July 19 at the ZACS.

The second and third match will be on July 21 and 24 in ZACS while BKSP will host the fourth and fifth game on July 27 and 29.

Afghanistan A will depart the country on July 30.
