Light to moderate rain with lightning flashes likely over country

DHAKA, May 3, 2018 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is
likely to occur at many places with moderately heavy to heavy falls and hails
at isolated places over the country in 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over
Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions and at a few places over
Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to
heavy falls and hails at isolated places over the country in the next 24
hours commencing from 9 am today,” said a met office press release here.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country
during the period, the release added.

Trough of low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area, the release said,
adding that the low over North Andaman Sea and adjoining area has become
unimportant. Seasonal low lies over South Bay.

Besides, an warning message of met office said in association with rain
or thundershowers with temporary west or northwesterly gusty or squally wind
speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Cumilla,
Jashore , Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Noakhali, Chattogram, Patuakhali,
Mymensingh and Sylhet wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal
number one.

The maximum temperature was recorded 35.2 degrees celsius yesterday
Khulna and today’s minimum temperature 19.4 degrees celsius at Badalgachhi in
Rajshahi division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded
41 mm at Tarash in Rajshahi division.

The sunsets at 6.28 pm today and rises at 5.22 am tomorrow in the capital
city.
