PM calls on President

DHAKA, July 13, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made a courtesy call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban here this evening.

“The prime minister discussed different state-level issues, specially her recent visit to China and possible programmes for the birth centenary celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with the President,” President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told BSS.

Sheikh Hasina, who attended the oath-taking ceremony of the two cabinet members at Bangabhaban in the evening, apprised the President of the outcome of her recent five-day official visit to China in details, the press secretary said.

The premier went to China on July 1 for a five-day bilateral state visit at the invitation of her Chinese counterpart Li Keqian and returned home from China on July 6.

During her visit, Sheikh Hasina attended the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Dalian on July 2, and held bilateral talks with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on July 4 and 5 respectively.

She also had a meeting with Communist Party of China (CPC) Minister for International Affairs Song Tao.

On her arrival at the Bangabhaban, the President received the premier with a bouquet around 7:30 pm.

The head of the government also presented a bouquet to the President.

Premier’s daughter Saima Wazed Hossain, among others, accompanied her at the Bangabhaban.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, PM’s principal secretary Md Nojibur Rahman, President’s secretary Sampad Barua, military secretary Major General SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman, PM’s military secretary Major General Mia Mohammad Zainul Abedin, among others, were present there.
