SANGSAD BHABAN, July 10, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah today hoped that there would be no ‘flight collapse’ of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in carrying hajj pilgrims this year.

“Biman Bangladesh Airlines has already sold all tickets of its hajj flights. We hope that there would be no flight collapse this year,” he said while replying to a starred question placed by ruling party lawmaker Adiba Anjum Mita (women seat-37) in the Jatiya Sangsad here.

As per the National Hajj and Umrah Policy-2019, he said, flight tickets are being directly issued to the names of hajj pilgrims.

The state minister said it is not true at all that hajj pilgrims face harassment and sufferings at hajj camp due to the collapse of Biman’s hajj flights.

If all documents including passports of the people, who want to go to Saudi Arabia for hajj, remain okay, Biman issues tickets to them and they can perform hajj, he said.
Abdullah said if any hajj flight of Biman is cancelled any way, the national flag carrier manages a flight and send the hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

This year, a total 127,198 pilgrims will travel to Saudi Arabia for hajj.

The first of this year’s hajj flights, carrying 417 pilgrims, left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia on July 4.
