RANGPUR, April 30, 2018 (BSS) – Cultural personalities at a discussion here have said dance always entertains the common people side by side with glorifying cultural identity and emotion of a civilised nation.
They said this last night at the discussion jointly organised by Rangpur divisional unit of Bangladesh Nrittya Shilpi Sangstha (BNSS) and District Shilpokola Academy (DSA) at the ‘Mukta Mancha’ on the Swasswato Bangla Muktijuddho Jadughar premises in observance of the International Dance Day- 2018.
The BNSS and DSA with assistance of Rangpur Nattya Kendra, Rangpur Nrittya Sangstha, Rangpur Nrittya Academy, Rinijhini Nrittya Academy and other dance organisations chalked out daylong programmes on the occasion.
The programmes included bringing out of a rally, arranging dance competitions, according reception to dance artists, distribution of prizes and cultural functions.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Abu Rafa Mohammad Arif and President of Rangpur divisional unit of BNSS Prof Azizul Islam jointly led the rally on the main city streets.
The dance competitions were held at the Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the afternoon.
Later at night, the discussion followed by distribution of prizes and crests and cultural functions was held at the ‘Mukta Mancha’ with Vice- President of Rangpur divisional unit of BNSS Kazi Md Junnon in the chair.
Principal of Rangpur Cantonment School and College Colonel Nurul Huda attended the discussion as the chief guest. Superintending Engineer of the Roads and Highways Division for Rangpur Circle Engineer Mahbubul Alam Khan and former President of Rangpur Chamber Abul Kashem addressed as invited guests.
The speakers called upon the cultural organisations to expand nurturing of our rich cultural and heritage involving the young generations and youths to ensure their healthier entertainment for eliminating militancy and terrorism from the society.
The chief guest laid emphasis on enhancing healthier cultural activities in the educational institutions, villages, towns and everywhere to entertain the common people and create stiff resistance against all evil forces.
Later, popular dance artists rendered dances charming a huge audience of all ages, socio-cultural personalities, civil society members, professionals and local elite till the midnight.
