Rifat murder accused Shrabon placed on 5-day remand

BARGUNA, July 09, 2019 (BSS) – A court here yesterday put Arian Shrabon, 22, one of the accused of Shahnewaj Rifat Sharif murder in front of Barguna Government College, on five days remand.

District Senior Judicial magistrate Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi granted five days remand of Shrabon after investigation officer (IO) of the murder case produced him before the court and prayed for his seven days remand.

Earlier, police arrested Shrabon for his alleged involvement in Rifat Sharif murder, reaching the arrestees, so far, to 10 in connection with the gruesome killing.

However, the main accused Sabbir Hossain Nayan alias Nayan Bond was killed in a gunfight with police on July 2.

The six accused, including the three named in FIR, gave confessional statements under section 164 to the court, said the IO.

A band of miscreants chopped Rifat Sharif mercilessly on June 27 last in broad day light in front of Barguna Government College when Rifat and his wife Ayesha Siddiqua were leaving the college premises. He died at Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital in the afternoon on that day.
