Bangladeshi national killed in BSF firing

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 8, 2019 (BSS) – A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Indian territory on Kiranganj frontier of the district last night.

The dead body was identified as Dulal Uddin, 18, son of Shafiqul Islam of Kiranganj Jharutola village under Binodpur union of Shibganj upazila.

Commanding officer (CO) of 59 battalion of BGB Lt. Col. Mahmudul Hasan said a group of cattle traders entered Indian side to bring cattle.

BSF forces of Shukhdevpur camp in Maldah district of West Bengal opened fire on them killing one on them on the spot, he said.

However, the BGB official said he is yet to be confirmed about the exact identity of the deceased person.

National identity card and photograph of Dulal has been given to BSF and after their confirmation necessary steps would be taken to bring back the body, he said.
