Rangpur Book Fair-2018 ended

 RANGPUR, April 29, 2018 (BSS) – A nine-day Rangpur Book Fair-2018 ended here on the Public Library ground on Saturday night.

Government officials, academicians and literary personalities attended the concluding ceremony. They viewed that reading of books always enhances knowledge through removing ignorance and immorality from the mindset of everybody to enlighten the society as well as the nation as a whole.

The district administration with assistance of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Jatiya Granthokendra organised the book fair to generate interests among common people, especially young the generations, in book- reading, literary and cultural activities.

The renowned book publishing houses of the capital city, district administration, Shishu Academy, local writers, poets, literary organisations and personalities had set up 45 stalls in the fair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Abu Rafa Md Arif was in the chair of concluding ceremony. Additional Police Super Fazle Elahi attended and distributed prizes among 10 best stall owners as the chief guest.

Former Head of the Department of Bengali of Rangpur Begum Rokeya Government College and writer Professor Md Shah Alam and former General Secretary of District Shilpokola Academy Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, addressed, as special guests.

The speakers suggested for arranging similar book fairs frequently to inspire the young generations in building book reading habit to enrich their knowledge on the rich Bengali literature, culture and heritage.

The chief guest laid emphasis on increasing habit of reading books by all people and encouraging others to acquire knowledge in building an enlightened society and further enriching our cultural and literary heritages.

Abu Rafa Md Arif called upon everyone to uphold values and sprit of the great Language Movement that sowed seed for the struggle for Independence, which was achieved by the nation in 1971 through the Great War of Liberation.
