RpCC Mayor pledges corruption-free administration

 RANGPUR, April 29, 2018 (BSS) – Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa has pledged a corruption-free Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) administration in delivering services and ensuring transparency.

Mostafa was addressing a reception accorded by Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) to newly elected RpCC body at RCCI auditorium on Saturday.

RCCI President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu presided over the function. Mayor Mostafa and City Councilors, RCCI executive committee members and its directors, industrialists, common traders and civil society members attended the function.

Senior Vice-president of RCCI Mostoba Hossain Ripan, its Vice-president Manjur Ahmed Azad, City Councilors Ferdousi Begum, Mokhlesur Rahman, Zakaria Alam and Tauhidul Islam Tutul, among others, addressed.

Welcoming the newly elected Mayor and City Councilors, the RCCI President expressed concern over the increasing trade license fees and other taxes.

“Running businesses has become almost impossible due to fees and taxes increase by RpCC,” he said and called upon the Mayor for his intervention to reduce the fees and taxes to reasonable level.

The RCCI President also requested the Mayor for controlling movement of the battery-run three-wheelers and auto-rickshaws and freeing the footpaths from illegal occupation to turn Rangpur into traffic jam-free and habitable city.

Thanking the RCC authorities for according warm reception to the newly elected RpCC body, Mayor Mostafa said he would like to remain beside the citizens to serve them and gift them a neat and clean, environment-friendly, beautiful and modern city.

Terming the business community as the driving force of the national economy, he expressed desire to take Rangpur city ahead with combined efforts of the traders, businesspersons and all citizens.

“RCCI is contributing a lot to the national economy as the biggest organisation of businesspersons in Rangpur division,” Mostafa said adding that steps would be taken to rationalize fees and taxes.
