Met office forecasts heavy rainfall

DHAKA, July 20, 2017 (BSS) – Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Chittagong, Khulna, Barisal, Rangpur, Dhaka, and Sylhet divisions in next 24 hours ending at 8 am tomorrow.

“Due to very heavy rainfall, landslide may occur at places in the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions,” said a Bangladesh Metrological Department (BMD) warning message here today.

Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary south or south-
easterly, gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur in the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one till 6pm today, said another BMD warning message.

Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the
country.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country’s highest temperature on Wednesday was recorded 33.4 degree Celsius at Rajshahi and today’s minimum temperature was recorded 24.5 degree Celsius at Rangamati and Teknaf in Chittagong division.

The highest rainfall was recorded 176 millimeter at Sitakunda in
Chittagong division.
