BIWTA evicts 88 illegal structures along Buriganga
Dhaka, July 04, 2019 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) in a drive today evicted 88 illegal structures along the banks of the river Buriganga in Keraniganj, Dhaka.
The drive started from Hujurpara to Babubazar bridge on the north bank of Buriganga and Babubazar bridge to Telgha on the south bank, said a press release of Shipping Ministry.
Besides, cases were filed with Kamrangirchar police station for allegedly grabbing river.
The BIWTA will also begin a three-day eviction drive on Tuesday to remove illegal structures from the banks of Buriganga in Badamtoli and Fatullah areas.
Earlier on Tuesday, the BIWTA evicted 198 illegal establishments and recovered two acres of grabbed river bank while an eviction drive was carried out along the river in Keraniganj.
