President for holding all students’ union polls

DHAKA, July 4, 2019 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today stressed on holding of the polls to the students union of all colleges and universities, like the DUCSU polls, to build efficient and proper future leadership of the country.

The head of the state expressed the hope as Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman called on him at Bangabhaban here this evening, President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

The President, also the chancellor of the university, was apprised of overall academic and administrative activities of the university by the vice chancellor.

During the meeting, the VC informed the President about the programme marking the 98th founding anniversary of the DU with the theme this year is “Qualitative education: Barriers and solution”, and about the overall preparation for the 52th convocation of the university scheduled to be held on December this year.

The President was also apprised of the preparation of the Dhaka University, the country’s highest seat of learning, on the celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary in 2021.

The President thanked the VC for arranging the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) polls in a smooth manner and hoped that the authorities concerned of all colleges and universities would take necessary steps to hold the polls of student union as regular basis to build future good leadership.
