2-day Agro Eco conference begins in Rajshahi on Saturday

RAJSHAHI, July 4, 2019 (BSS) – The 2nd ‘Barendra Agro Eco Innovation Research Platform Conference’ is going to begin here from Saturday aims at discussing and devising ways and means of mitigating the adverse impact of climate change in the drought-prone Barind area.

Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA), will host the two-day conference at Zila Shilpakala Academy Auditorium with the theme of ‘Strengthening Climate Resilience for Water, Energy and Food Security through an Integrated Multi-stakeholder Approach in Barind Tract: Leaving No One Behind Focusing SDGs’.

Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque will attend the opening session of the conference as the chief guest.

At a press briefing here today BMDA Chairman Dr Akram Hossain said more than 200 scientists and researchers from different universities and research organizations of the country will join the conference.

A number of research papers are scheduled to be presented in the conference focusing climate change adaptation, resilience, drought stressed, energy, livelihood improvement, governance and nutrition and safe food, he said.
