DHAKA, July 20, 2017 (BSS) – Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal called upon the developed countries to fulfill their commitments for assisting Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to help achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs).

“International community must have political willingness in implementing targets and goals of SDG in the least developed countries,” he told a general debate of Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) during the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) of United Nations (UN) in New York on Wednesday.

He underscored the need for increasing official development assistance (ODA) and foreign direct investment (FDI) to help achieve the SDGs.

A 22-member delegation led by Kamal joined the HLPF.

The conference was held between July 10 and 19 with the theme “Eradicating Poverty and Ensuring Prosperity in the Changing World” for reviewing progress in implementing SDGs.

Some 44 countries have volunteered to present their national voluntary reviews to the HLPF.
