2 DU students get Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy Award

DHAKA, April 22, 2018, (BSS) – Two students of the Mathematics Department
of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded ‘Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy Award of
Academic Excellence’ for their outstanding academic results in Bachelor of
Science (BS) Honors examinations of 2017.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed this award to the
awardees – Riya Rani Shil and Sudharonjon Roy – at a function held at the
VC’s lounge on the campus today.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Akhtaruzzaman urged students to equip
themselves with non-communal values and work hard for establishing social
harmony in the country.

He paid glowing tribute to the memory of Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy.

Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy was a student of DU Mathematics Department. He
was brutally killed on the DU campus by the barbaric Pakistan Army on the
black night of March 25, 1971.

DU treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin, acting chairman of the Mathematics
Department Prof Dr Khandokar Mezbauddin Ahmed and chairman of the Applied
Mathematics Department Prof Dr Md Shafiqul Islam were, among others, present
on this occasion.
