President, PM greet all concerned of educational institutions

DHAKA, June 25, 2019(BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today greeted all the students, teachers and guardians of all educational institutions across the country on the occasion of National Education Week-2019.

In separate messages, they also congratulated the students who participated in the divisional level competitions in different categories and achieved recognition and also expressed their hope that the students would continue to maintain the achievement throughout their life.

In his message, President Abdul Hamid asked the students to prepare themselves with knowledge and skills for turning Bangladesh into a prosperous country.

He advised students saying that they must achieve the leadership abilities along with acquiring knowledge for leading the nation in future.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the student must know the true history of the Liberation War.

The country achieved independence through a long struggle and a bloody Liberation War under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and three million people had to sacrifice their lives, she said.

The premier said Bangabandhu gave the highest importance to education and the present government also attaches top priority to it to build the ‘Golden Bengal’ as per the dreamt of Bangabandhu.

“We are distributing free textbooks among all students from pre-primary to secondary-levels since 2010,” she said, adding that distribution of ‘Braille books’ for visually impaired students in their native languages and textbooks for minor ethnic groups are also being provided for their betterment.

At the same time, different types of scholarships as well as stipends are being given to the students to inspire them in education, she continued.

She said different steps have been taken for teachers for their training at home and abroad.

In order to create skilled human resources, she said technical and madrasa educations have given priority in line with general education.

They (the President and the Premier) wished all successes of the programmes taken in connection with observance of the National Education Week-2019.
