Deputy speaker distributes relief to flood victims

GAIBANDHA, July 20, 2017 (BSS) – Deputy Speaker and local lawmaker
Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah distributed relief materials to the flood victims of Fulchhari and Shaghata upazilas.

According to sources, water level of the Brahmaputra River continued to rise and was flowing 58 cm above its danger mark.

Almost all the unions of Fulchhari upazila and a portion of Shaghata upazila of the district were flooded.

To mitigate the sufferings caused by current flood, deputy speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah stood beside the flood affected people of the upazilas and distributed relief materials.

The affected people of chars and river basin of the upazilas expressed their satisfaction to deputy speaker and local lawmaker for standing beside them with relief materials to help pass their days without trouble.

Deputy Commissioner Goutam Chandra Pal is also accompanying the deputy speaker and distributing the packets of relief including rice, pulse, sugar, and salt to the flood victims of the upazilas with him.

District relief and rehabilitation officer AKM Idris Ali said 125 tonnes of rice and TK 4.70 lakh were allocated for the flood victims of Fulchhari upazila and 90 tonnes of rice and TK 4.70 lakh of Shaghata upazila.
