PM witnesses designs of two education schemes

DHAKA, July 20 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today witnessed amended designs of two projects of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Department.

The schemes are “Development of government secondary schools” and “Expansion of science education scope in government colleges”.

The premier witnessed the designs placed before her through a power point presentation at a function held at her office in the morning.

The first project will be implemented at a cost of Taka 4640 crore while the second one at an expense of Taka 1806.54 crore.

At the function, Sheikh Hasina also witnessed designs of the proposed projects on Sher-e-Banglanagar High School and College (Nari Shikhkha Mandir) and Sheikh Russel High School at Gopalganj sadar upazila in Gopalganj district.

Education Engineering Department Chief Engineer Dewan Mohammad Hanjala presented the designs through a power point presentation.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister gave some suggestions on the designs and directed the authorities concerned to make necessary corrections.

She said various facilities like adequate light and air, open veranda, emergency exit and fire alarms must have in the buildings of the educational institutions.

Besides, alarm system will also have to be in the toilets to be constructed for the students, she added.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, PM’s Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and PMO Senior Secretary Suraiya Begum were present.

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in a meeting on March 22 with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair approved the two projects for the development of government secondary schools as well as creating more facilities on science education in government colleges.
