DHAKA, July 19, 2017 (BSS) – President Abdul Hamid urged Swedish investors to invest in traditional and non-traditional sectors of Bangladesh as Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Johan Frisell made a farewell call on him at Bangabhaban here today.

“President Hamid expressed satisfaction over the existing excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Sweden,” President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told journalists.

The President congratulated the Swedish envoy on completion of his successful tenure in Bangladesh and recalled with gratitude that the people and government of Sweden had expressed solidarity with Bangladesh during the 1971 Liberation War and subsequently recognized the independent country on February 4, 1972.

About the recent visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Sweden, he said a new chapter was created through this visit reaching the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Sweden to a new height.

Hamid mentioned the contribution of Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) to country’s socio-economic development and hoped that the agency would increase its support to Bangladesh in days ahead.

During the meeting, the Swedish envoy expressed his gratitude to the President for extending cooperation to him in discharging his duty here.

He assured that the Swedish government’s support for rural development and RMG of Bangladesh would continue.
