Int’l Workshop on Research in Mathematics held at DU

DHAKA, June 21, 2019 (BSS) – A 12-day international workshop titled “Research School on Dynamical Systems and its Applications to Biology” concluded today at AF Mujibur Rahman Mathematics Building of Dhaka University (DU).

University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah addressed the programme as the chief guest.

The Department of Mathematics of DU, International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation jointly organised the event with a theme “Development of Research in Mathematics in Developing Countries”.

Local Coordinator of CIMPA Research School Prof Dr Md Shahidul Islam presided over the concluding ceremony while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr Tofail Ahmad Chowdhury and Trustee of AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation Prof Dr Perween Hasan addressed the programme as special guests.

External Coordinator of CIMPA Research School Prof Dr Renaud Leplaideur gave vote of thanks while Prof Dr Chandra Nath Podder conducted it.

UGC Chairman stressed the need for modernization of mathematics education to develop education system in the country.

Terming overall development of Bangladesh as depend on advancement of science and technology, the UGC Chairman called upon all to work together in this regard.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Prof Dr Muhammad Samad hoped that this event would help researchers and mathematicians to enhance the quality of research.

Academicians and researchers from Bangladesh, France, Germany, Brazil, Austria, Cambodia, Ghana, Egypt, China, Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan and India participated in the event.
