Chemical factories to be relocated from capital: Amu

DHAKA, April 19, 2018 (BSS)-Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu today said chemical factories would be relocated from the capital city soon.

“The government is working to relocate the chemical factories as soon as possible,” he added.

The minister was addressing the opening ceremony of a two-day conference organized by Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) at the Small and Cottage Industries Training Institute (SCITI) auditorium in the city.

Referring to the relocation of tanneries to Savar from the capital, he said this sector has the potentials to exceed the readymade garments in future.

Amu said the government has taken a mega plan to establish economic zones, and as part of the plan, two leather factories would be set up in Barishal soon while a BSCIC industrial zone would be establish in Sirajganj.

Industries secretary Mohammad Abdullah spoke on the occasion as special guest with BSCIC Chairman Mustak Hasan Muhammad Iftikhar in the chair.
