BOA to observe Olympic Day Run Sunday

DHAKA, June 20, 2019 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) will
observe the Olympic Day Run 2019 in the capital and other district and
divisional headquarters on Sunday (June 23) as part of the International
Olympic Committee’s global programme to popularize the Olympic movement.

BOA has taken a day-long programme to celebrate the “Olympic Day” in a
benefiting manner with the slogan: “Move, Learn, Discover.”.

BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza disclosed the details at a press
conference held at BOA auditorium this (Thursday) afternoon.

BOA organising committee’s chairman and BOA deputy secretary general
Ashikur Rahman Miku, BOA vice president Sheikh Boshir Ahmed, BOA treasurer
and Day Run media and publication sub committee’s convener Kazi Rajib Uddin
Ahmed Chapal, among others, were present at the press conference.

The Olympic Day Run is being sponsored by Trust Bank Limited, Baisakhi
Enterprise, Square Toiletries Limited, Runner Group, Walton Group, Acme and
Exim Bank Ltd.

The Olympic Day Run will start from Bangladesh Shishu Academy at 7 am and
end at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) after passing through the
secretariat, zero point, GPO, BNS gate No. 1 and BNS torch gate.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP, is expected
to be present in the Day Run rally as the chief guest.

Participation in the Olympic Day Run remains open to all sports-loving
people.

A cultural programme, to be performed by army orchestra team, will also be
held after the Day Run at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

To mark the Olympic Day, the BOA also arranged seminar on the same day
afternoon at the BOA auditorium.

Youth and Sports Ministry’s acting Secretary Jafar Uddin is expected to be
present in the seminar as the chief guest.

The probable budget of the Olympic Day Run has been estimated at Taka
39,75,000 (Taka thirty nine lacs and seventy five thousand).
