Speakers for quality education to create skilled workforce

RANGPUR, June 19, 2019 (BSS) – Speakers at a function have urged the
students to make themselves skilled workforce through acquiring knowledge for
building an economically advanced country.

Students should be given quality education as they are the future leaders
of the country, they told at a function organised by Rangpur Foundation to
distribute scholarship among 150 brilliant students of public universities at
Town Hall here on Tuesday afternoon.

Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam attended the function as the
chief guest with President of Rangpur Foundation and Deputy Commissioner
Enamul Habib in the chair.

Additional District Magistrate Shukria Pervin delivered the welcome speech
narrating social welfare oriented activities of Rangpur Foundation.

Educationist Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, Acting President of district
unit of Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its General Secretary Advocate
Rezaul Karim Raju, President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi and its General
Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal addressed as special guests.

The chief guest distributed Taka 3,000 among each of the 150 scholarship
recipient students of Begum Rokeya University and Taka 5,000 among each of
the other 50 meritorious students studying at different public universities.

He distributed crests among five successful citizens of Rangpur, including
Khademul Islam Basunia (posthumously), Sonia Sobhan, Razeka Khatun, MA Maruf
Kain and Iqbal Hossain (posthumously) for their notable contributions to
different fields of the society.

He also handed over Taka 10,000 to family members of critically ill
freedom fighter Nurul Alam Khokan for his treatment.

Terming meritorious students as future of the nation, the speakers called
upon them to continue studies alongside developing a sense of patriotism to
supplement the efforts of building a “Sonar Bangla” as dreamt by Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
