DHAKA, June 19, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced eight muggers
to life imprisonment in a case filed over killing a CNG autorickshaw driver
and snatching his vehicle.
Judge Dr Akhtaruzzamn of Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 passed the order,
also fined them Taka 50 thousand each, in default to suffer one year
imprisonment more.
The convicts are Swapan, Mizanur Rahman, Selim Sheikh, Md Jamal Hossain,
Akbar, Sheikh Farid, Mofij Sheikh and Kader Mollah.
Of the eight, Swapan, Mizanur and Selim Sheikh were present during the
pronouncement of the judgement. The other convicts are yet to be arrested.
According to the case documents, the convicts on September 25, 2007,
killed CNG autorickshaw driver Hashmat Ali Mollah and left him on Mohakhali
over bridge to die. The killers then drive away with his vehicle.
