SANGSAD BHABAN, June 19, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said four search wells will be drilled in the shallow block of the Bay of Bengal by March 2021 aiming to explore more mineral resources.

“Searching activities are underway in four deep and shallow blocks of the Bay of Bengal under the production sharing contracts (PSCs) signed between the government and five international oil companies after settlement of maritime disputes with India and Myanmar,” he said while responding to a starred question placed by ruling party lawmaker M Abdul Latif (Chattogram-11) in the Jatiya Sangsad here.

Nasrul said after 2014, seismic surveys were conducted in these blocks of the Bay to find out mineral resources.

He said state-run Petrobangla has sent the Notice of Award to the international bidders to conduct a 2D Non-Exclusive Multi-Client Seismic Survey in the country’s maritime area.
