President offers doa at Imam Bukhari (R) mazar at Samarkand

SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan, June 18, 2019 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today offered fateha and doa at the mazar of Abu Abdullah Mohamed bin Ismail Al-Bukhari, popularly known as Hazrat Imam Bukhari (R), a distinguished scholar of Hadith in Islamic history at Samarkand here.

The head of the state, who is now in Uzbekistan as part of his a seven-day official visit to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, also offered fateha at the grave of country’s first President late Islam Karimov at Hazrat Khaza Khizir (AS) Mosque complex.

He also paid rich tributes to him by placing a wreath at his grave.

President Hamid also visited the Imam Bukhari (R) International Science and Research Center there.

The President, his spouse Rashida Khanam and son Rejwan Ahammad Taufiq reached Samarkand by a bullet train “Afrosiyob” at 10.03 am.

Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdul Karimov, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Momen, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan Mosud Mannan, Secretary to the President Sampad Barua, press secretary Joynal Abedin and secretary of bilateral and consular Kamrul Ahsan, among others, accompanied Abdul Hamid.

Imam Bukhari, a Persian Islamic scholar, died on September 1 in 870 AD at Bukhara, a district of Uzbekisthand.

Governor of Samakand Erkinjon Turdimov and pesh imam of mazar mosque received the President there.

Later, a special prayer was held seeking blessings of Muslim Ummah.

President Hamid also attended a luncheon hosted by the governor at the former residence of the first Uzbekistan president at Samarkand.

He also visited Amir Timur’s Mausolem and some other historical venues where depicted the national customs and culture of Uzbekistan.

Abdul hamid left Dhaka for Tajik capital Dushanbe to attend the fifth CICA summit on June 13 and from there he flew to Uzbekistan on June 16.

The President is expected to return home tomorrow evening.
