Provisional government led liberation war toward victory: AL leaders

RANGPUR, April 18, 2018 (BSS) – Leaders of Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies at separate discussions have said formation of the provisional government-in-exile quickly earned international recognition of the War of Liberation toward ultimate victory.

They came up with the observation at the discussions organised separately by the district and city units of AL at their respective offices here on Tuesday in observance of the historic Mujibnagar Day- 2018.

Earlier, leaders of the district and city units of AL and its associate bodies hoisted the national and party flags and placed wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders.

Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the main discussion held at district AL office in Betpotti area of the city.

General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, its Organising Secretary Alhaj Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla, Treasurer Abul Kashem, General Secretary district Mohila AL Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, President of district Chhatra League Mehedee Hasan Rony, among others, addressed.

President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi presided over another discussion held at its office.

Vice-presidents of city AL Rashed Kaiser Khan Sharif, Idris Ali and Advocate Dilshad Hossain Mukul, its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, Joint Conveners of city Jubo League Saiful Islam and Murad Hossain, among others, addressed.

Narrating significance of the Mujibnagar Day, the speakers said the War of Liberation got an invincible dimension and international recognition through oath-taking of the exile provisional government at Baiddonathtola in Meherpur on that day in 1971.

Advocate Rezaul Karin Raju said, “It was a historic moment when the national flag was hoisted there after renaming Baiddonathtola as Mujibnagar in tribute to Bangabandhu who was declared as President of the provisional government-in-exile on that day.”

Shafiur Rahman Shafi said, “After oath-taking of the provisional government in exile in presence of many freedom fighters and foreign journalists at Mujibnagar, it soon got international recognition to lead the War of Liberation in an organised way.”

Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed laid maximum emphasis on disseminating true national history to the young generations for inspiring them with spirit of War of Liberation and patriotic zeal in building a developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ to realise Bangabandhu’s dream.
