GAZIPUR, July 19, 2017 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced five persons to death for killing a teenage boy in Kaliganj upazila of the district in 2008.
Judge of Additional District and Sessions Court-1 Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan handed down the verdict against Shamim, Nur Islam, Saddam Hossain, Safikul and Babu. The court also fined them Taka 10,000 each.
All of them are the residents of Brahmangaon village of the upazila.
Of the convicts, Saddam and Babu were present on the dock when the verdict was pronounced while three others remain absconding, said Mokbul Hossain, assistant public prosecutor.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that the convicts killed Mahiuddin, 15, over a previous enmity on October 16, 2008.
Later, police recovered the body from a water body adjacent to his house.
After the incident, victim’s father Fajlur Rahman filed a case with Kaliganj police station.
