DHAKA, July 19, 2017 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today canceled bail of Chandpur’s Haimchar Upazilla Parishad chairman Nur Hossain Patwari in a case lodged for walking on a human bridge by school children.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order while disposing of a rule issued earlier in this regard. The court also ordered Patwari to surrender within four weeks.

The High Court on April 25 issued the rule asking judge of Chandpur Shishu Adalot to explain under what authority his court granted Patwari bail. The High Court also had asked to explain as to why it shall not cancel the bail.

Advocate Shahriar Kabir Biplob, who moved a petition challenging the lower court order granting Patwari bail, in his plea said the accused secured bail from the lower on March 29 after getting denied by the High Court.

After that the complainant Abdul Kader Gazi filed a revision plea against the lower court order, resulting in the rule issued by the High Court. After holding further hearing on that rule, the High Court today passed the latest order.

Footage of Patwari walking on the human bridge formed by the students of Nilkamal Osmania High School on January 30 created uproar around the country. Gazi, guardian of a student, on February 1 filed a case in this regard.
