Axle load control policy to be effective from Nov: Obaidul

 DHAKA, April 10, 2018 (BSS) – Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the axle load control policy would be effective from November 1 to control plying of overloaded vehicles on the roads and highways.

The minister said this while visiting the Axle Load Control Station and road safety campaign of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) at the Meghna Bridge Toll Plaza here, said a press release.

“We have separated toll booths for reducing traffic congestion on the bridge, of which four booths are dedicated for passenger vehicles while four others for goods-carrying vehicles,” he said.

The minister also asked all people concerned to avoid unnecessary delay while realizing toll and weighing vehicles.

Joint Secretary of the ministry Humayun Kabir, Additional Chief Engineer of Dhaka Zone Abdus Sabur and Daudkandi Upazila Chairman Major (Retd) Mohammad Ali were present, among others.
