Preparation of National Eidgah in last phase

DHAKA, June 1, 2019 (BSS) – Preparatory work for making the National Eidgah ready for the main Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat is now in the last phase.

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is working to make the Eidgah fully prepared by tomorrow, Executive Engineer of DSCC Zone-1 Dr Mohammad Shafiullah told BSS today.

DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon is expected to visit the National Eidgah and brief journalists tomorrow, he said.

According to DSCC’s concerned officials, preparation is being taken so that 90,000 to 100,000 Muslim devotees can join the congregation.

Special arrangement is also being taken for the 5,000-6,000 women devotees.

Contractor organization’s Manager Mozammel Haque told BSS that 100 workers have worked till Tuesday last from Ramadan 10 while 170 workers are working from Wednesday to make ready Eidgah.

The pandal is being ready for the Eid congregation using 43,000 bamboos, he said, adding that the sheds, already, have been made.

Now the workers are working to set up lights, ceiling fans and close circuit cameras, Haque said.

If the weather permits, the main Eid jamaat (congregation) of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr is scheduled to be held at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises in the city at 8:30am.

Around 100,000 Muslim devotees, including the President, cabinet members, politicians, and diplomats join the congregation at the National Eidgah.
