Two more yaba traders shot dead in gunfight in Teknaf

COX’SBAZAR, June 1, 2019 (BSS) – Two alleged yaba traders were shot dead in a gunfight with Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) at Teknaf here today.

The dead persons were identified as Abdul Gafur, 40 and mohammad Sadek, 23.

According to BGB the gunfight took place at KK Khan area adjacent to Naf River today morning.

Gafur was a national of Rambibil of Mondu town of Myanmar and residing at Jadimora refugee camp in Teknaf. While Sadek was a resident of Karentali of Teknaf pourasabha.

Commander of Teknaf BGB 2 Battalion Col. Md. Faisal Hasan Khan said one lakh yaba tablets and two long knives were recovered from their possession.

BGB conducted the raid based on a secrete information of smuggling a large consignment of yaba. The smugglers crossed the Naf river on a wood made boat.

As BGB members challenged the criminals they started firing on them. For self defense BGB members responded with counter fire.

Bodies of the two criminals were found dead on the sport after the gunfight.

Top yaba trader of Teknaf Saiful Karim and another yaba trader shot dead in a similar gunfight with police on Friday night.
